The new guard of bluegrass takes the stage of the Southern as Chris Thile's latest project, the Punch Brothers, comes to town. Thile, an acclaimed mandolin player and member of Nickel Creek, is joined by bluegrass guitarist Chris Eldridge and Gabe Witcher on the fiddle. Rounding out the group is bassist Greg Garrison, who has recorded with acoustic and bluegrass heavyweights like Sam Bush and Del McCoury, and Noam Pikelny who has made a name for himself in banjo circles with three-finger-style picking on a five-string banjo. All of the boys are innovative musicians in their own right, and together, they are breathing new life into the evolving sound of bluegrass.
