Peter and the Wolf: ProMusica Youth and Family Day

5/10/2009
Since the inception of the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra's Youth & Family Program in 2001, more than 5,000 children have been served at twelve different social service agencies and elementary schools. The main goal of the program is to break down the barriers of enjoying classical music, and providing an opportunity to engage these children with the beauty and power of music and the arts.

These students, as well as anyone visiting the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium on Mother's Day, will enjoy a 2 pm performance of Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf, and have the opportunity to stay after to participate in the variety of hands-on activities. There will be stations for making musical crafts, a place to learn conducting patterns and practice on a student ensemble, a violin 'petting zoo' with violins from The Loft Violin Shop, a book corner from Barnes & Noble Booksellers, and a pin-the-tail-on-the-wolf game. Fun for the whole family!
