Byron Stripling and the Columbus Jazz All-Stars - 8 p.m.:
Byron Stripling and his all-star quartet, featuring keyboard sensation Bobby Floyd, bassist Chris Berg and drummer Bob Breithaupt, will create the first jazz event in Lincoln Theatre in more than 50 years! One of the world's great trumpet players, Byron's infectious jazz style will make this an evening of non-stop groove.
June 5-6, 2009
Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews and Orleans Avenue - 8 p.m.:
Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews, a 23-year-old native of New Orleans, is a fully developed performer bursting into the international consciousness. It's always a challenge to find an appropriate label for artists who make something uniquely their own from a variety of influences. In the case of Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, the band created its own tagline for its high-octane and high-energy music: SupaFunkRock.
June 19-20, 2009
Sean Carney Band - 8 p.m.:
Columbus' own Sean Carney is a one-man ambassador for the blues. He plays a mean hollow-bodied guitar, too. Ever felt like you're in the presence of greatness? Joining Sean and the band will be Columbu Jazz sax legend Gene Walker. Gene has toured with the Beatles, King Curtis, and Sam Cooke.
