2/19/2010
Early Music in Columbus presents the Flanders Recorder Quartet in"Banchetto Musicale." The Flanders Recorder Quartet hopes to tickle your palate with a musical banquet in which they get their best silver service, recorders of the highest quality in all shapes and sizes, and use them in 1001 different ways. The menu, "Symphonie des 7 Dégustations," is made up of French hors d'oeuvres, Italian antipasti, a queenly serving of our daily special, "Flemish Virtuoso," and to finish, a scrumptious array of desserts! The Flanders Recorder Quartet was founded in 1987. With more than 1,500 concerts on five continents under its belt, the ensemble has become a prominent fixture in the world of Early Music. The FRQ spotlights the recorder, so often underrated for 200 years, and lets it shine again in all its glory. In a wide variety of programs, the quartet performs with great virtuosity, using appropriately chosen instruments from its unique collection, thus making each and every concert an unforgettable event
