Gesture

2/9/2010 - 3/3/2010
As an integral part of the international conference Gesture at Large (on campus, Thursday February 25-February 27), Hopkins Gallery presents works that in and of themselves are the act, the sound, the light, the image, the object that is gesture. Works by conference participants and invited artists, including James Peel, Greg Murr, E.F. Hebner, Mark Harris, Ann Hamilton, Todd Slaughter, Johanna Inman and Anna Norton, among others, brings together the historical/traditional parameters of body-gesture-movement-mark and gesture's conceptually abstracted or philosophically linked or socially fused or semiotically connected or scientifically witnessed expanded definitions.

Reception and Artists' Introductions: Thursday, February 25 at 5:15-7:15om with a Special Event at 6:30pm. Exhibitor Mark Harris presents "The Undead Gesture- contemporary art's malignancy," Hopkins Hall, room TBA
