Open Rehearsals / Auditions
Presented by The Dublin Singers
The Dublin Singers is proud to announce its Crystal Anniversary: the 2010-2011 season marks the 15th that The Dublin Singers has been enriching the Dublin community. When the group started rehearsals in 1996, it had little more than the dream and dedication of Founder and Director, Mary Fran Cassidy, the support of the Dublin Arts Council, and the musical talents of a few community members. Since those early days, the group has become integral to the City of Dublin through its annual concerts in December and May, performances at the Dublin Irish Festival, Dublin Music and Arts Festival, Dublin Kiwanis Frog Jump, Dublin Holiday Tree Lighting, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebrations. In addition, the group participates annually in both the St. Patrick's and Independence Day Parades. The Dublin Singers has represented the City of Dublin at the Ohio State Fair, and, even more impressively, at Carnegie Hall in New York City, under the direction of one of the best known contemporary composers, John Rutter.
The Dublin Singers rehearse weekly from September to May, Thursday nights 7pm to 9pm at St. Brigid of Kildare Educational Center's music room. Membership is open to area adults who complete a successful audition and are interested in singing a wide variety of choral music. Open rehearsals, under the direction of Mary Fran Cassidy and accompanied by Kearney Lykins, III, are September 9 and 16, 2010. For more information, find them on Facebook, or at www.dublinsingers.org, or contact Cassidy at (740) 363-3319.
