Ann Rebele's large exhibit of Fabric Art is evocative yet compelling. She uses hand-dyed, hand-painted, hand-drawn, and hand-printed fabric and her original photographs to fashion her distinctive three-dimensional effects. She is a master at proving that you cannot trust your own eyes; many of her three-dimensional works reveal a different subject to viewers standing left, right, and center of the work. Recently she has begun layering (over a background printed or painted image) sheer silk organza on which she draws and paints images. The dimensional result asks you to consider the correlation between the "now" and the "not-now." Meet the Artist at her Reception on Aug. 17, 6-8 pm, and again on Sept. 20 at Conversation & Coffee, noon to 1 pm at CAC.
