Ohio Designer Craftsmen
Founded in 1963, Ohio Designer Craftsmen (ODC) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to establish a standard of excellence in crafts, promote the fine crafts aesthetic, encourage creative growth, build public awareness and appreciation of fine craft, and provide professional support to craft artists. Successfully serving artists and the public for nearly 45 years, the organization has a member base of approximately 2000. To further our mission of promoting fine crafts, we produce five craft fairs each year.
In 1993, the organization opened the Ohio Craft Museum, which presents about six exhibitions each year. These shows feature craftworks by artists from across the United States and from around the world, and are, for the most part, thematic in nature. Exhibitions travel regionally, nationally and internationally, promoting the fine crafts aesthetic to large, diverse audiences. Three gift shops offer the work of artists from across the country.
ODC has also reached out to the community by offering museum tours to community groups, colleges and senior-citizen centers, among others. We often partner with area schools to educate their students on a variety of craft forms, and we conduct workshops at the museum for families, children and adults.
