            <description>SEASON FINALE!!
Complimentary valet parking available.Join Carpe Diem String Quartet for the 6th and final series concerts of the 2012-13 season on May 18 and 19. These concerts will bring to a close CDSQ's exploration of the 6 early quartets by Beethoven. The 6th quartet in B flat is the most sanguine of the Op. 18 collection. The jovial dialogue between the violin and cello in the first movement, the twinkling syncopation of the Scherzo movement followed by the quixotic and effervescent final movement make this work a perfect emotional companion to the Celtic repertoire that completes the rest of the program.
Lyrical and haunting, the 1st String Quartet by composer Ernest Moeran will transport you to the lush countryside and the grand mountains of County Kerry.
Your heart will wish to stay on that magical isle with the music by CDSQ's delightful guest artist, Celtic singer and wood flutist, Shannon Heaton.
Ms. Heaton brings exquisite skill and heart to the music she writes and performs. Irish American News dubbed her 2009 Female Musician of the Year, and LiveIreland named her latest album with husband Matt Heaton &quot;Trad Fusion Album of 2010.&quot;

<title>The Law in These Parts (May 21, 2013)</title>
            <link>http://www.columbusarts.com/events/88404-the-law-in-these-parts/</link>
<description>Winner of the Best Documentary Award at both the Sundance and Jerusalem film festivals, the fascinating and devastating The Law in These Parts meticulously explores the gap between what is legal and what is just. Talking with some of the Israeli lawyers and judges who created and interpret the legal structure put in place after the 1967 Six Days War to treat the West Bank and Gaza Strip as occupied territories, acclaimed filmmaker Ra'anan Alexandrowicz asks tough, pointed questions and gets even tougher answers. Asking his subjects to consider the consequences of their actions, Alexandrowicz takes the position that unjust laws create unjust realities and the results are tragic for everyone, the judges and the judged, alike. (101 mins., DCP)

Visit Shimon Attie's exhibition MetroPAL.IS. before the screening for another treatment of the way language affects Israeli and Palestinian relations. The exhibition will be open until 7 PM this evening so you can stop by, and gallery admission is free with your film ticket. See the exhibition pages for more about the show.

            <title>The Master (June 6, 2013 &amp;mdash; June 8, 2013)</title>
            <link>http://www.columbusarts.com/events/88444-the-master/</link>
<description>See this acclaimed film in its first 70mm screenings in Ohio.

That's how director Paul Thomas Anderson hoped The Master, which was shot with the Panavision System 65 camera, would be projected where possible. The format is sure to add another level to what is already a powerful film, one of the most critically lauded features of 2012. Especially noted for its spellbinding performances, The Master stars Joaquin Phoenix as an unstable WWII vet who falls in with the leader (played by Philip Seymour Hoffman) of a religious movement called &quot; The Cause&quot; and begins traveling around the country spreading his teachings. Also with Amy Adams and Laura Dern. (144 mins, 70mm)

            <title>You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet! (June 13, 2013 &amp;mdash; June 14, 2013)</title>
            <link>http://www.columbusarts.com/events/88446-you-aint-seen-nothin-yet/</link>
<description>&quot;Alain Resnais, that enduringly insightful and endlessly compelling nonagenarian, offers us a daring and unorthodox drama that puts filmmakers half his age to shame with its thrilling inventiveness.&quot;-Guardian (UK)

As the title suggests, at age 90 the French New Wave master Alain Resnais (Last Year at Marienbad, Wild Grass) is indeed still full of surprises. You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet! gathers a who's-who of French acting royalty (including Mathieu Amalric, Michel Piccoli, and frequent Resnais muse Sabine Azéma) to portray actors and friends of a late playwright (Denis Podalydès). The characters transform the reading of the playwright's will into a chance to perform for him one final time and to reflect on a life in the theater. Resnais has been long fascinated by the intersection of life, theater, and cinema, and this latest film serves as a wry and wistful valentine to actors and the art of performance. (115 mins., DCP)

            <title>Shimon Attie: MetroPAL.IS. (May 4, 2013 &amp;mdash; August 4, 2013)</title>
            <link>http://www.columbusarts.com/events/88656-shimon-attie-metropalis/</link>
<description>Shimon Attie's MetroPAL.IS., an immersive, multiple-channel video installation, dramatically tackles the complex and intensely problematic Middle East conflict with characters cast from the Palestinian and Israeli communities in New York City. Each of the performers reads from a document created by Attie that combines sections of the Israeli Declaration of Independence (1948) and the Palestinian Declaration of Independence (1988), revealing a surprisingly significant overlap between the two original texts.

The complex editing and post-production work integral to creating this symphony of voices and the interaction among the eight monitors was completed during Attie's residency in the Wexner Center's Film/Video Studio Program in 2010.

            <title>Paul Sietsema (May 4, 2013 &amp;mdash; August 4, 2013)</title>
            <link>http://www.columbusarts.com/events/88657-paul-sietsema/</link>
<description>Paul Sietsema's multilayered, multimedia work explores how many bodies of knowledge-about history, culture, and art itself-are far more fluid and mutable than we assume them to be. This exhibition is the most comprehensive to date for the artist, who lives and works in Los Angeles. You will see five of Sietsema's films, including a brand new one, along with drawings, paintings, and other works on paper.

The new film and related projects represent the culmination of Sietsema's work supported by a Wexner Center Artist's Residency Award in visual arts for 2010-11. The exhibition's curator is Christopher Bedford, former chief curator of exhibitions at the Wexner Center and now Henry and Lois Foster Director of the Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University.

Residency and Wexner Center exhibition made possible with support from the Teiger Foundation, the Nimoy Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

In this presentation, Mark will teach artists and art students about the &quot;business&quot; of being an artist. Join Joseph Popp, CPA; Rea &amp; Associates, for this informative session.

Ms. Heaton brings exquisite skill and heart to the music she writes and performs. Irish American News dubbed her 2009 Female Musician of the Year, and LiveIreland named her latest album with husband Matt Heaton &quot;Trad Fusion Album of 2010.&quot;
